Summary
The National Observatory on Disability and Human Rights (ONDHu) is designed for the participation of civil society in general and disability associations in particular, in order to encourage dialogue and help to develop concrete proposals for defending the interests and human rights of people with disabilities.
The ONDHu is a virtual platform designed to foster the sustainability of capacity building and involvement of association leaders and people with disabilities in the area of disability and human rights and particularly the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
It serves as a vehicle for:
- Building the capacity of association leaders, people with disabilities and other players interested in the human rights of people with disabilities;
- Collecting, systematising and disseminating publications, opinions and activities that foster the human rights of people with disabilities in Portugal and abroad;
- Promoting dialogue and the exchange of good-practices and strengthening multi-player partnerships in promoting the human rights of the disabled;
- Ensuring monitoring and systematic analysis of the human rights situation of people with disabilities in Portugal.
