Cohesion, Development and Territorial Equity

Cohesion Policy is the European Union's strategy to promote and support the overall harmonious development of its Member States, contributing for the reduction of socioeconomic and territorial asymmetries between European regions. Following its creation in 1988, and after the successive enlargements of the Union, cohesion policies have determined progress in European regions, even while the challenges and priorities of investment have also evolved.

To mark the adoption of the first Cohesion Policy regulations, and capitalize on the empowering achievements of rising levels of quality of life and a brighter future, CICS.NOVA.Évora is promoting a Conference Cycle titled “Cohesion, Development and Territorial Equity” with the purpose of contributing for the discussion and assessment of the registered evolution of European regions in the last three decades, while also identifying the main objectives and paths towards the future.

The Conference Cycle is structured in three moments, the first of them a conference taking place at Universidade de Évora, on November 27, Auditório do Colégio Espírito Santo (from 14:00 to 18:30h), centered on “Cohesion Policy 2021-2027, Old Challenges, New Policies”. The inaugural conference will have the President of Agência Nacional para o Desenvolvimento e Coesão, António Costa Dieb.
